Clear Communications
Establishing clear communication processes and following the organizational hierarchy and agreed to protocols helps everyone communicate effectively and respectfully across the organization. These protocols will help parents and staff understand the best process for addressing problems or concerns.
Each situation should first be addressed at the level where the initial action was taken, and appeals move to the next level of the hierarchy. School board members and all district administration should be held accountable to honor these processes.
Communications
Communication can make or break the work of a board or leadership team. When communication expectations are unclear, teams can become reactive, frustrated, or disconnected. Clear protocols help everyone know how information is shared, how questions are handled, and how decisions move forward. Board communication is categorized into three areas:
- Board Member - Board Member Protocols (intra-board communications)
- Board Member - Administration/Staff protocols (internal communications)
- Board Member - Community protocols (external communications)
